Exercise 1 provides step-by-step instructions to illustrate much of what was presented in Chapter 2, Getting Started with Eclipse. The exercise is broken down into a number of sections, each demonstrating different concepts.

  1. Your First Eclipse Project - You'll create projects, folders, and files and import files into a project.
  2. Editors and Views - You'll see how to manipulate editors and views, including moving, resizing, and stacking them. You'll reorganize the toolbar and see how to use tasks and bookmarks.
  3. Working with Resources - You'll go into more detail on working with resources, including comparing and replacing them and recovering resources you've deleted. You'll create a project outside the default workspace location.
  4. Perspectives - You'll learn how to change perspectives and customize your own.
  5. Using Multiple Eclipse Windows and Workspaces - You'll see how to run multiple Eclipse windows on the same workspace and on different workspaces.
  6. Getting Assistance - In the final section of the exercise, you'll look at using the Help system to access online information, including searching.
