The Java Developer's Guide to Eclipse |
Chapter 2, Getting Started with Eclipse, provided an
introduction to using Eclipse as a general-purpose development
environment. It described the organization of the user interface and
how to manipulate it, including resizing views and editors, stacking
them, creating shortcuts, and customizing perspectives. It discussed
how to run multiple windows on the same workspace and on different
workspaces, and how preferences affect almost all aspects of Eclipse
behavior. It covered how to create, edit, import, export, and otherwise
manage resources. The chapter explained how to compare and replace
resources, projects, and folders; how to recover deleted resources; and
how to search your workspace and use the Help system. It described how
to use other computer programs as editors and external tools, and
factors that affect the performance of Eclipse.
Exercise 1 provides
step-by-step instructions to illustrate much of what was presented in
Chapter 2. No coding is required. The objective is to reinforce the
material covered in this chapter through hands-on work.
