The Java Developer's Guide to Eclipse |
In Chapter 9, Getting Started with Plug-in Development, you were introduced to the starting point of all plug-ins, namely the plug-in manifest, and its principal elements, extensions, and extension points. You're ready to move on to using those that make up the Eclipse Platform. This chapter has no specific examples. However, you should look the other chapter examples depending on your interests. Like most chapters of the book, the examples are self-contained and thus you can study them independently.
Reminder: Whether you feel the need to do Exercise 6 or not, you should bookmark Section 8, Correcting Common Problems. If you find a problem while coding your first few plug-ins, there's a good chance the table contained in that section has the solution.
